Report: Tottenham, Olympique Lyonnais reach an agreement for Giovani Lo Celso

Giovani Lo Celso’s time with Tottenham Hotspur could be coming to an end with only a few hours left in the January transfer window; the north London club could be sending the Argentine player out on a loan deal.

According to French media outlet L’Equipe, Lo Celso is getting closer to a move to Olympique Lyonnais. Lyon and Tottenham would have agreed on a loan without an option to buy the midfielder who began his European career in France with Paris Saint-Germain.

It would now be necessary for the player to give his final agreement to validate the transfer. Lo Celso doesn’t appear to be in manager Antonio Conte’s plans this season; the Argentine has transitioned more to a substitute role when available to play.

Lo Celso has two starts in nine Premier League appearances, averaging 28 minutes. The bulk of the 25-year-old’s starts have come in the EFL and FA Cup, but as Tottenham fights for a top-four spot, it doesn’t seem as though the midfielder is playing a significant role in that battle.
