Report: Tottenham, Olympique Lyonnais reach an agreement for Giovani Lo Celso

Giovani Lo Celso’s time with Tottenham Hotspur could be coming to an end with only a few hours left in the January transfer window; the north London club could be sending the Argentine player out on a loan deal.

According to French media outlet L’Equipe, Lo Celso is getting closer to a move to Olympique Lyonnais. Lyon and Tottenham would have agreed on a loan without an option to buy the midfielder who began his European career in France with Paris Saint-Germain.

It would now be necessary for the player to give his final agreement to validate the transfer. Lo Celso doesn’t appear to be in manager Antonio Conte’s plans this season; the Argentine has transitioned more to a substitute role when available to play.

Lo Celso has two starts in nine Premier League appearances, averaging 28 minutes. The bulk of the 25-year-old’s starts have come in the EFL and FA Cup, but as Tottenham fights for a top-four spot, it doesn’t seem as though the midfielder is playing a significant role in that battle.

He’s been sulking since Poch went. Stop stealing a wage and ask for a move.

I’d have got Coutinio on loan, the Dutch defender from Inter and another option at right wingback and I reckon under Conte top 4 is almost guaranteed.

I’m with you, I don’t see him as a coward and actually has bit about him. Making him a scapegoat in the overall chaos that is THFC these days I find unhelpful…

Perhaps he doesn’t feel being a rarely used sub at club that are going nowhere is what he signed up for either…

I disagree. I’ve yet to meet an Argentine footballer that’s afraid to get stuck in. LoCelso’s been hurt a lot, covid and just isn’t a reliable player that fits Conte’s system. But I doubt we’ll find anyone better in League 1 or Serie B or wherever the braintrust is looking.

Levy will never change this policy. We are stuck with it. Lots of empty seats may make a small difference but not much.

We would be better off playing youth team players in my opinion. These players are big earners so to relegate them below youth team players would be an admission that they are worthless; which they are in respect of retaining any value to Spurs. Them staying here is actually detrimental to the team in terms of morale and creating genuine competition for places.

Dele does have some credit in the bank for services rendered until 2018. However; he is now either not trying in every game or has declined to such an extent that he is unable to regain any level of consistency. Either way his presence is at worst damaging the team or at best he’s not doing enough on a regular basis.

He’s the only one I would wish well.

Lo Celso is a coward and does not belong in a ‘battle’ of any kind. Opposition teams make sure they tag him at least twice in the first ten minutes of every game he starts for Spurs. He then reclines back into his shell and hides until he is hooked ten minutes into the second half. He has ability but has weak character. Happy to be a substitute stealing a proper players wage.

Not suited to the Prem and no ambition to improve. The best game I have ever seen him play for Spurs was against Norwich City, when they were going down, the last time they were in the Prem. He had a good 20 minute spell in that game. We will never hear of or regret this joker leaving Spurs once he is gone.

Right??? Im trying to wrap my head around this too..

Yes we need get rid of these 3 but leaving it SO LATE, we risk losing players and not bringing anyone in so in a way leaving our squad WEAKER.

I hate this whole we need to sell before we buy. NO. You buy and sell at the same time with a plan from the start of the window, heck even before the start of the transfer window.

Lets take Diaz. Liverpool planned ahead and said look we go for this guy in the summer unless he can be available in January. Immediately after finding out that we made a bid for Diaz, they sweep in, offer what needs to be paid and have people flight out to South America to get the deal sorted. NOW THATS PLANNING

Why is it such rocket science to the baldy prick

If him,Dombelly and Alli go and we have nobody coming in,then statistically we are worse off.I bet Conte is seeing the funny side of this window.

Good, get him out asap. Don’t want him moping around the training ground anymore, or constantly falling over on the pitch either.
