Report: Tottenham midfielder is hopeful for a transfer during the January window

Tanguy Ndombele has not lived up to the transfer fee Tottenham Hotspur paid for in 2019. The supporters voiced their displeasure after his latest performance during Sunday’s FA Cup match against Morecambe.

Spurs didn’t score until after the 25-year-old left the pitch, which wasn’t a good look for Ndombele. The rift between the player and supporters appears to be too large to overcome, which is why The Athletic reports that the France international hopes to depart this January transfer window.

According to the report, there is a sense among sources close to Ndombele and the north London club that a departure would be best for all parties. Furthermore, The Athletic adds that the midfielder wanted to leave this past summer.

Tottenham is willing to accommodate the player’s wish to leave as they seek a buyer. However, finances are a significant hurdle to reaching a loan or sale. Ndombele makes £200,000 a week, and finding a club willing to take on that financial responsibility won’t be easy.

Also, Ndombele has a lengthy contract that doesn’t expire until the summer of 2025.
