Report: Tottenham looks to beat out Arsenal to land Man City’s £45M talent

Tottenham Hotspur needs to upgrade their forward group heading into next season. The north London club can’t afford to lean only on Harry Kane and Son Heung-min if they want to compete in the FA Cup, EFL Cup, Premier League, and UEFA Champions League next season.

As a result, Spurs are likely to be in the market for a forward. The Telegraph reports that Tottenham is set to compete with north London rivals Arsenal to sign Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus.

If Spurs do indeed get into the race for the Brazil international, they could use the fact that they have Champions League football next season to beat out The Gunners.

The information in the report suggests that Arsenal has even spoken to the Brazilian’s agent, though that hasn’t prevented Spurs from trying to make the signing.

This season Jesus scored 13 goals and recorded 12 assists while appearing in 41 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s squad. When it comes to the possible fee, Transfermarkt puts Jesus’ value at £45-million.
