The midfield is one of the positions that Tottenham Hotspur wants to improve with the January transfer window opening in a few days. However, Spurs might not secure a deal that will bring a player right away, considering striker is at the top of the list of needs to address.
Nonetheless, the north London club might be looking to agree to a pre-contract with a player whose deal will expire in June. According to Calciomercato, Spurs are leading the race to land AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessié.
The 25-year-old has yet to reach a contract extension with the Serie A club, and reports suggest that Kessié wants a deal that allows him to earn €9-million per year (around £150,000 per week). However, Milan is offering an annual salary of €6.5-million.
During the January transfer window, Tottenham can talk with the Ivory Coast international and his representatives and see whether they agree over a possible deal.
Kessié has made 21 appearances scoring five goals and registering one assist for AC Milan this season.
Comes with a dubious character so …….not for me.
Wouldn’t lose sleep about either tbh. Dele had a good game against Pool, but was it just a one off? As for Lo Celso I think the PL is too fast for him and all he cares about anyway is his country.
I have seen a fair bit of Kessie from Serie A and Ch Lg and I don’t see a top quality player in there. Do not be fooled by his goal record, most are penalties. Good luck wrestling penalties off Kane if he stays!
We are not stellar in midfield, but is he an upgrade on Skipp? I want someone who can score and create from open play, not another defensive blocker.
Guess he comes in…then Alli out. Or Lo Celso permanently?
A good box to box midfielder who would undoubtedly strengthen our squad. We may be leading the race to sign him but as we all know Levy is capable of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. There is sure to be some tiny financial penalty in the small print that makes him pull out and instead splosh £10m on some kid that is hopeless by comparison, and has about a 1 in a million chance of turning into a Kessie.
