Tottenham Hotspur is undergoing a COVID-19 outbreak within its squad, with some staff and players testing positive.
As a result, their UEFA Conference League matchup against Stade Rennais was called off. However, Spurs want more than just their European match postponed as they try and control the number of cases.
The Athletic reports Tottenham plans to ask the Premier League to delay their game against Brighton & Hove Albion due to the coronavirus outbreak that’s overtaking their team.
The league has yet to decide whether they’ll decide whether to postpone Sunday’s matchup. However, with the situation appearing to be worsening, as manager Antonio Conte has stated that they’re facing a severe problem.
For the Premier League to postpone a game, they fear that the positive cases aren’t contained on a squad. If the situation continues to worsen at Spurs, it’s likely the match will not occur.
Last season, Spurs were on the other end of an outbreak as Fulham had six positive COVID-19 cases when the match was called off.
I am a bit concerned about the imbalance of games played home & away 8/6 and now Brighton.
We need to get cracking on the road bringing home points asap.
Hopefully we get into the top 4 and have two games in our pockets.
That’s the dream.
