Tottenham Hotspur is keen on improving their squad for manager Antonio Conte. However, the January transfer window does present its challenges considering the short period clubs have to secure a deal.
As a result, the bulk of the roster changes will come in the summer, and one of the first roster moves could be the addition of Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard. According to ESPN, Tottenham has noted their interest in Lingard but has yet to make a formal proposal.
Lingard’s contract expires in June, and the 29-year-old is in the process of accessing his options on where he wants to continue his career. With the FIFA World Cup on the horizon, the forward wants to find a club where he’ll get significant playing time.
Last year, Lingard had a successful loan spell at West Ham United, so there’s a sample that he’s a quality player still. It will be interesting to see whether Tottenham decides to ink the England international to a pre-contract.
Conte doesn’t generally play with attacking midfielders as he prefers the three up top, so why are we trying to sign another one to the list of TN, GLC and DA??
Always wary of the players who are looking for one last big contract whilst they can get one, fits the bill for that does Lingard but is probably an improvement on what we have now sadly.
He offers far more than NBelly, Dele or LoNoShow, which isn’t saying much in fairness.
Beggars can’t be choosers… Get your chequebook out ENIC and get us out of the mess you’ve put us in, I don’t think JLingzzz is the solution but if he’s a Conte pick then crack on.
