Report: Tottenham Hotspur keen on Atalanta’s £15M talent to fill wing-back role

Tottenham Hotspur will be in on wing-backs to improve the position heading into next season. Manager Antonio Conte will be keen on several tracks, and the latest target is Atalanta’s Joakim Maehle.

According to the Daily Mail, Spurs are eyeing Maehle to solve their issues on the left flank, and he is viewed as the ideal target for Conte’s 3-4-3 system. This season, nobody has secured a regular spot on the left for Tottenham, with Sergio Reguilon and Ryan Sessegnon suffering injuries.

Spurs had already done business with Atalanta when they made a deal for Cristian Romero last summer, so there’s a dialogue between the two clubs that a deal could be done with the north London club putting forth an offer to the Italian club’s satisfaction.

Maehle is under contract with Atalanta until 2025 and has scored three goals and registered two assists in 34 appearances. When it comes to a possible fee that Tottenham will have to pay, Transfermarkt puts the Denmark international’s value at £15-million.
