Report: Tottenham Hotspur eye French starlet to help strengthen the forward group

Tottenham Hotspur wants to improve their forward group, and it seems as though the north London club is heading to France to land the next young striker.

According to RMC Sport (via GFFN), Tottenham Hotspur has expressed an interest in signing Stade de Reims striker Hugo Ekitike. The 19-year-old is one of the bright spots for the French club that sits in 14th place.

Ekitike has made 19 appearances for the Stade de Reims this season, scoring eight goals and registering four assists. The French media outlet claims that Reims is now having ‘discussions’ over Ekitike’s sale, with Tottenham named one of the clubs keen on the youngster.

When it comes to the possible cost for the teenager, the Ligue 1 side reportedly has set a price of €30-million (£25-million) for Ekitike and also want €10-million (£8.3-million) in bonuses and a 25-percent resale clause attached to any sale.

At 19, it will be interesting to see if Tottenham decides to grab a player that can help them in the future, much like Bryan Gil, or they choose to another player that can jump in and produce right away.
