Report: Tottenham could revisit its interest in Adama Traore if Barça doesn’t pay the option clause

The January transfer window provided the never-ending saga of Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Adama Traore.

For weeks the winger was connected to the north London club, and eventually, FC Barcelona would swoop in to land their former youth player. Traore would leave for Spain on a loan deal, but it seems as though the 25-year-old isn’t long for the Catalan side.

According to Sport, Barcelona isn’t in the position financially to exercise the €30-million option to buy on the loan agreement. The Spanish media outlet also adds that Traore’s agent, Jorge Mendes, could be on the lookout for other possible destinations as they cite Spurs in the report.

If manager Antonio Conte remains the manager of Tottenham, he likely remains interested in the Spanish forward. Past reports suggest that the Italian tactician wanted to convert Traore into a wing-back in his system.

Should Barcelona decide not to pay the option price, considering their financial situation, which saw Lionel Messi depart last summer, then perhaps Spurs might re-open the Traore saga.
