Report: Tottenham cited as having an interest in Villarreal’s £18M rate left-back

Although Tottenham Hotspur landed Ivan Perišić to improve the left wing-back position, the north London club wants to add another player that will challenge the Croatian for the job and take the load off the 33-year-old player.

Marca reports Spurs are one of the clubs eyeing Villarreal left-back Pervís Estupiñán. The Spanish club is putting the Ecuadorian defender on the market despite having a contract until 2027 to take advantage of a good season by the 24-year-old.

Estupiñán made 41 appearances, where he scored zero goals and two assists for The Yellow Submarine.

Villarreal needs to close two or three prominent sales to balance the budget gap that has been caused by missing out on the Champions League for next season.

Tottenham has also been interested in Estupiñán’s teammate Pau Torres; meanwhile, the La Liga side has their eyes on holding onto Spurs loanee Giovani Lo Celso.

When it comes to a possible transfer fee, Transfermarkt puts the value of Estupiñán at around £18-million.
