Report: Tottenham among Premier League clubs interested in Georginio Wijnaldum

The summer transfer window is fast approaching, and Tottenham Hotspur hopes to bring players to help build manager Antonio Conte’s vision for the north London-based club.

One of the weak areas that the Italian tactician hopes to address is the midfield group. Sky Sports recently reported that Paris Saint-Germain’s Georginio Wijnaldum is open to a loan move back to the Premier League.

90mins reports that one of the clubs open to landing the former Liverpool FC man is Tottenham. In addition, a handful of other clubs interested in bringing in the 31-year-old along with Spurs; Everton, Newcastle, Arsenal, Leicester City, and Aston Villa would be open to the idea.

The Netherlands international has struggled to adjust to Ligue 1 and PSG, so it seems as though Wijnaldum wants to return to a league he’s familiar with to gain confidence ahead of the FIFA World Cup next year.

It’s hard to imagine Tottenham going after Wijnaldum as it seems they want to go with young players to fill their weak areas. However, a loan deal might entice Spurs if their first options are too expensive.
