Funny old game. JuveFC.com believes that even though Juventus finds Merih Demiral a player that they could well be comfortable selling, the Old Lady is rightly playing hardball, who in these tough times is giving anything anyway?
So if Atalanta is seeking to replace Cristian Romero, then Demiral would indeed make sense. That said, there is a further complication, in the form of Borussia Dortmund, whom Calciomercato understands is also keen to land the talented Turk.
Further confusion could be provided by Spurs being unwilling to thrash out an agreeable payment schedule for Romero himself.
With multiple interested parties now involved, the onus is upon the buying clubs to get the deal done. If Tottenham is also acting tough, then it looks unlikely that Spurs’ desire to fill Toby Alderweireld’s spot may prove more complicated than was initially apparent.
With just a fortnight to the start of the Premier League, Tottenham is again taking their time to effect any significant change.
I just don’t get it, what is classic Levy? The report says the deal is done! “Reliable” old Mr. A. Gold seems certain we’ll also get Tomiyasu,
I know, I know “it’s not done yet”… but maybe lets save the vitriol for when that happens. As it stands, if we get IN: Romero, Gil, Tomiyasu and OUT: Lamela Hart, Winks and Aurier, KEEP: Kane I for one will be bloody delighted – we may not win the league, but there will be significanty fewer irritating wasters in the squad, and 3 promisingly decent additions.
Granted, this comment may not age well, but looking good at the moment I think.
Don’t get me wrong, if the whole lot falls to pieces I’ll be out with my pitchfork with everyone else. Sounds to me like it is beyond blaming Levy though, unless we’re also holding him responsible for Atalanta signing someone?
Are they facts, or are they hearsay?
Fact: Levy has ballsed this kind of thing up before
Fact: Nobody has ballsed this one up… yet.
I dunno, I feel like reports saying “deal done, Atalanta just need to sign someone” kind of suggest *good* news, yet this thread is chock full of negativity!
Well sorry, but unless you were on the zoom calls then I don’t see how anyone can say what was or wasn’t mentioned and when
Binning is my pleasure
great if it happens. But everyone and their dog knows if it doesn’t it’ll be because of Levy. Specifically if it does this is yet another transfer that goes to the deadline. Yet another player with no ore season with his new team mates = the usual failure to impress when required…
Hats off is ambitious.
Sanchez’ and Winks’ exits look like total fantasy at this stage, and IF Romero signs we’ve bought precisely one player who is first team standard.
Why the hell we are even having this dialogue with the league starting in a fortnight is in itself a massive concern.
Ifs and maybes,I ladmire your enthusiasm. As I said above this is classic Levy which always ends in disappointment for the fans, but saves him money by not spending.
It’s all due to his failure to properly churn the squad over the seasons that we find ourselves in a position of a really big rebuild. Why are we ever surpried?
It still won’t be enough. Our squad needs more than one quality addition.Just because this transfer has taken an age why haven’t we been signing the other players we desperately need?
We all want Romero to join but we’re just responding to the facts that’s all.
Every single club we do transfer business with (in and out) find the whole process awkward, difficult, protracted, frustrating and unnecessarily painful. What / who is the common denominator? (Clue: bald fellow with small-man syndrome).
They must have other back-up CB’s like us – no top team only has 2 CB’s in the entirety of their squad!
Why wasn’t this mentioned at the beginning of negotiations only rearing it’s ugly head now?
Bald ass would suffice
This is classic Levy and not unexpected. What’s more worrying, considering the absolute priority requirements,is that nothing else seems to be moving to get other positions filled. All this is leading to no pre-season bedding in of any possible new players.
And that’s not talking about getting the deadwood out,for which I’ve seen no takers.THis is going down to the wire as usual with the associated totally underwhelming results.
Our first game is in two weeks against City who will probably have Grealish and Kane by then.God help us.
Can’t wait to read the comments should this deal actually get over the line in the next week.
Again, I think this is harsh, and symptomatic of the unbalanced views of some posters here – I’m no Levy fan, but this deal now seems like it is on the brink and so Patrici deserves some credit if it happens – there are 2 sides to every transfer, and it’s fair to say Atalanta aren’t desperate to see their man walk out the door until they have a replacement secured.
Lamela gone, Hart on the brink, Toby off the wage bill, promising young winger and keeper in, possible world class centre half in the next few days.Kane looking likely to stay. If Winks, Sanchez and Serge can be shipped out and the Japanese lad brought in then I think it’s hats off to Patrici, who will have achieved more in a matter of weeks than Levy did on his own in years.
I think its easy to blame Levy, but could just as easily be Atalanta being awkward around not wanting to let him go until they have a replacement, can’t blame them for that. Why would they risk leaving themselves with just 2 “squad” CB’s?
Hopefully they’ll realise that Sanchez is the sort of awesome centre back they need!
Not sure why you call him the bald assassin. Assassins generally get their targets!!!🤣🤣🤣
It’s strange how this wasn’t mentioned until now, what 2 weeks into the deal being discussed? My bet is that Levy rubbed them up the wrong way during negotiations to try and save a few quid in his usual annoying manner, and this is the result – Atalanta being difficult. If we’d just stumped up the 50 mill at the beginning Romero would likely be our player by now and joining us in time for the new season with some training under his belt.
Atalanta undoubtedly have other CB’s in the squad that could take Romero’s place until they source the player they wanted. Or do they only have 2 CB’s in their entire squad? Besides we shifted our best CB for pocket change without sourcing a replacement first. No this has Levy’s interfering DNA written all over it.
The same old toxic stench of Levy and ENIC permeating throughout yet another failure to prepare with a professional pre season. DOF, patsy new manager ,world class stadium and training facilities, but still with owners who have no desire to operate a top flight football club. More jam tomorrow narrative as these parasites slowly drain the life blood out of the legacy supporters. Toby gone and Dier and Sanchez still here says it all. Nuno had better start working on how to remove the massive dollop of egg on his face that will appear as Levy dispatches Kane in the last minutes of the transfer window and trousers the money.
Levy knows how to play the gullible. The longer he drags this transfer out, the less time there is for pressure to be brought on him to buy more of the players that we desperately need. A backup keeper, 20 year old kid and a top CB (if we get Romero) are not enough for this window. We need at least another CB, a RB, a box-to-box midfielder and a striker (assuming Kane stays). You can be sure if Kane does go it will be later on deadline day so the money can’t be spent replacing him. Levy is like sandpaper, slowly rubbing away turning our club into dust.
Well we have just let our best CB go without bringing in a replacement first for much less money. What’s so special about Atalanta?
Nice 👌🏿
I’m not saying we should, I’m saying we could. You lot are criticising Levy for not getting the deal done, even when Levy (in my opinion) was willing to overpay. Juve are not going to let go of Demiral easily, so if you want the deal done today Tomiyasu is the only thing we can do.
“We have to be PWUUUDENT!!!” 😂
On top of our manager ‘search’ it’s like the cherry on top… 😡 😂
This doesn’t strike me as the kind of deal that a Spurs DOF will find easy to complete with the bald assassin looking over his shoulder… 🤔
😆
The only other explanation.
This is the way the online world works, opinion constantly being manipulated.
Generated from the club in some roundabout way, no other explanation.
Knob heads from the clubs PR/social media mob trying to keep a pro-Levy presence. TBH is a fairly high profile Spurs blog. Is it any wonder? 🤔
That one was me mate. Couldn’t resist 😂
HH should be able to see who our “Negative Scarlet Click Pimpernel” is, as he is the Commander of this site…I notice that HH has also been getting them. See in one of his comments below. 😂
Guess what Lilywhite you have a negative click…He has been very quite of late????? Watch this space and see if I also get a negative /dislike click.😂😂
It happens every transfer window. There’s no small print. If you seriously don’t think Levy has a history of blowing transfer deals. Then you are
A/ Not a Spurs fan
B/ Blind
C/ Part of the small group of Spurs fans who think Levy & ENIC are a force for good for our club.
If you are C which I suspect you are. This blog isn’t for you. Your time here will most likely be limited to this one thread.
Toodles.
I don’t believe everything I read.
I read the tweet, I commented on that ALONE & can’t see anything written about PAST misdemeanours by THFC’s chairman & if it is somewhere in extremely small print, oh silly, myopic me, I obviously missed it & sorry for not commenting on any & everything else.
LOL button required
😂😂
It’s ok, its Tappa
Doesn’t upset me at all. Levy routinely goes through protracted negotiations and regularly doesn’t get his man, offering up all manner of excuses. Sorry you haven’t seen that point.
Ah yes, because one prayer maketh a Christian
Pay what’s needed get him in ASAP simple as that every other club does it apart fee us
THIS page is about a tweet from @CLMerlo & nothing else to ME.
Sorry it doesn’t suit you to accept that.
I’m NOT a Leicester fan so don’t give a flying one about them?
MY comment is purely about THIS page & the tweet from @CLMerlo & ME not being able to see/read anything that others are saying?
Sorry if that upsets you so much & doesn’t fit in with everyone else.
I have also noticed that there’s been negative clicks on any anti Levy post. My money’s on Donna Cullen. I am sure HH is up to the task of rooting out the interloper!
Why should we? We need 2 new CB’s, and they are getting the 50 mil they wanted.
That’s ignoring every other transfer balls up conducted by Levy rather conveniently.
There’s a troll who most likely has a VPN with lots of different IP addresses, constantly marking down any post that criticises the loathsome Levy. My theory is that it’s some lackey connected to enic.
What’s happened to this blog 😳 people giving negative clicks against anything that says Levy will more than likely balls this up 🤦🏼♂️
Have I missed something? Have we, or more to the point has he broken the habit of a lifetime ?
Go back over Levy’s transfer wheeling and dealing over the last 20 years and you’ll see exactly what everyone is talking about. Never gets the business done early and haggles over every last penny whilst thinking he’s acting in the club’s best interests when he’s doing exactly the opposite. Groundhog Day is basically every transfer window with us.
Not to the extent it does with us, how long did N’Dombele take when he was gagging to join us? What happened with Bruno Fernandez, Dybala and other big names that had agreed personal terms with us? It seems to happen with Spurs far more than with any other club. It’s beyond coincidence.
Nonsense. We don’t ever get a deal done without fuss. Never happens to well-run clubs like Leicester.
Like Villa and Leister?…or the Goons?
Fair point. So rather than “all other clubs” completing transfers quickly without hitches, it’s actually a select few with significantly more financial might.
Actually – silly me – we aren’t interested in catching them. Costs too much.
The clubs we are are trying to catch don’t do that.
Is that true, though? It seems to me that plenty of other clubs’ deals take longer than some of their fans would like. Tottenham is not alone in having this problem.
Desperate stupidity surrounds every bloody deal
Well, I guess it must be me, then?
IF the above tweet is true I don’t see anything there (other reports may differ) apart from it’s a done deal that’ll happen when Atalanta get their replacement(s) in & not sure how anyone at THFC can be held to blame for the delay?
Except they want to now buy 2 houses with their windfall.
I bet Paratici has never had it so tough.
One solution is withdrawing interest from Tomiyasu, allowing Atalanta to have a free go at him.
Funny how all other clubs manage to buy and sell players without all this drama isn’t it? The only obstacle preventing us from operating in a normal manner in transfers is small, bald and tight.
A further positive update from Argentina. TyC sports Cesar Luis Merlo …
Translation as follows …Tottenham and Atalanta already have an agreement on the purchase figure for Cuti Romero (€ 50M + 5 in bonus) However, the operation will not be signed yet because the 🇮🇹 (Italian club) besides Lovato try to sign Demiral and release him there.
how do we make it complicated
how haggling should work
we want your player
he will cost x amount
we will only pay y
ok let’s compromise on z now let’s talk about how you will pay etc
sale done
way levy does it
he will cost x
I will give you half x
no he costs x
I will give you half x
please don’t talk to us unless your serious
Now it sounds like we’re buying a new house. We have to wait for the owners to find one themselves.
If this is an actual deal then rest assured if it does go Pete it will be solely down to Levy trying to pull a stunt.
