Report: Spurs target Sven Botman heading to Italy after reaching a verbal agreement

Tottenham Hotspur wants to add another center-back to go along with last summer’s signing of Cristian Romero. One target linked to the north London club is Lille OSC defender Sven Botman.

However, it seems Spurs might want to miss out on another player. According to the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Botman has verbally agreed to join AC Milan.

The report claims that Botman has agreed on a five-year deal with the Serie A giants. The Netherlands international would earn £2.5-million per season plus bonuses. Now, the two clubs need to complete a deal that could be worth around £25-million.

Spurs need a left-footed defender, but AC Milan is challenging for the Serie A title and barring a major collapse. They could be having UEFA Champions League football next season, so this could be the reason Botman might be heading to Italy.

Competing for trophies and playing in the Champions League might be too much of a mountain to climb, so Tottenham might have to find another target unless they feel Botman is the guy for them.
