Report: Spurs Eyeing Right Back Who’s Better Going Forward Than Alexander-Arnold

Max Aarons and Youcef Atal are the two names who’ve been most heavily linked with the poisoned right-back spot at Tottenham.

Football London confirmed our interest in the pair as recently as Monday, but Mundo Deportivo has reported a target who would trump both.

According to the Spanish outlet, Spurs are monitoring the availably of Achraf Hakimi who will return to Real Madrid at the end of the 2019-20 campaign, following a two-year loan spell at Borussia Dortmund.

Madrid would apparently like to keep the Moroccan, but he is wary of playing second fiddle to Dani Carvajal, having got used to regular football in Germany where he made 65 appearances and contributed staggering attacking numbers, scoring 10 times and racking up 17 assists.

For comparison, an attacking return every 2.41 games is better than Trent Alexander-Arnold’s record for Liverpool over the past two seasons.

Clearly the 21-year-old is an offensive weapon who would thrive with the attacking freedom given to Serge Aurier in Jose Mourinho’s system. His end product is miles better than the Ivorian’s and he can’t be worse defensively.

Unsurprisingly, based on his success at Dortmund, big clubs are queuing up for Hakimi with Mundo Deportivo claiming Chelsea, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Juventus, PSG, and his current loan club are all on his tail.

Hakimi’s desperation to play regularly might give us a fighting chance.
