Report says Spurs could meet Mourinho’s replacement next week

Tottenham has reportedly stepped up their pursuit of Jose Mourinho’s replacement and they could meet with one of their targets next week.

The Special One is under serious pressure to deliver in north London as his team struggles to make the top four places.

He has led them to the final of the Carabao Cup and winning that competition might buy him some time.

However, if that doesn’t happen, he could be relieved of his duties, especially if they have to settle for a Europa League place again.

Several managers have been linked with a move to Spurs as his replacement and one of them is Maurizio Sarri.

The ex-Chelsea boss has been jobless since he was fired from his role at Juventus last summer.

He won the Europa League with the Blues and also won Serie A with Juve before getting sacked last season.

La Gazzetta dello Sport says he is one manager who might replace Mourinho and a meeting with Spurs is imminent.

The report also linked Sarri with a move to the likes of AS Roma and a return to Napoli, but Spurs might tempt him with managing in the Premier League once again when this season ends.
