Report: Premier League club ready to offer €60M for Tottenham transfer target

Tottenham Hotspur will be in the market for another forward to help aid Harry Kane with some of the goal-scoring responsibilities. The north London club has seen its name connected to various players, including SL Benfica’s Darwin Nuñez.

According to a recent report, Spurs were one of the clubs that scouted the 22-year-old in the first leg against Liverpool. However, if the Uruguay international is the striker that Tottenham wants this summer, they’ll need to move fast.

Foot Mercato reports that Newcastle United is ready to splash the cash their new ownership is providing and has put a €60-million offer on the table for Nuñez. It’s still early on in the process, and after blossoming in the Champions League, it would be surprising to see the striker head to a club that won’t compete in the tournament next season.

It will be interesting to see whether Tottenham decides to spend this type of money on Nuñez, who will have plenty of other suitors. The striker has scored 32 goals in 37 games for Benfica this season.
