Report: Manchester United keen on making a swoop on Tottenham transfer target

Tottenham Hotspur has been linked to Villarreal defender Pau Torres for nearly a year. Last summer, the 25-year-old decided to stay with The Yellow Submarine to play in UEFA Champions League football. However, this summer, it seems as though he’s keen on a departure.

Spurs want to improve their backline, which already has Cristian Romero and Eric Dier, but will want to upgrade the position alongside the duo. However, if Torres is the target to strengthen their defense, they might want to act fast.

According to Marca, Manchester United is keen on paying €50-million for Torres as the new manager for The Red Devils, Erik Ten Hag, wants a central defender who can pass the ball comfortably.

Transfermarkt puts the value at €50-million, so the Premier League club isn’t lowballing the Spanish club for their star defender. Torres made 47 appearances, scoring six goals and recording one assists this season.

Furthermore, Torres played a role in Villarreal reaching the semifinal stage of the Champions League.
