Report: Juventus has seller’s remorse for its handling of Cristian Romero’s exit

Juventus received €18-million when Atalanta decided to trigger the option clause for Cristian Romero, who was with the rival Italian club for two seasons on a loan deal.

La Dea purchased Romero, then turned around and sold the Argentine defender to Tottenham Hotspur for £42.5-million. According to a report from CalcioMercato, Juventus has been hit with seller’s remorse considering the amount Atalanta received for Romero.

The report also adds that the Serie A club regrets not allowing the 23-year-old to shine with them then flipping him for the amount Atalanta received. Instead, they let a direct rival for a top-four spot in the Italian league get stronger financially to reinvest that money into their squad.

When Spurs decided to invest a significant amount to land Romero, they have a vision that he’ll be the anchor for their backline for years to come. Despite dealing with injuries, the central defender has shown that he can be a pillar to be the backbone of their defense.
