Report: England loosening quarantine rules ahead of October World Cup Qualifiers

During the September CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers, Premier League clubs did their best to withhold their players from heading into countries the UK has on their red list regarding the coronavirus pandemic.

Furthermore, anyone coming from these countries is mandated to a quarantine period without any training on their own, meaning the Premier League sides would likely lose a player returning from international duty for two games.

However, it seems as though England is loosening its quarantine rules ahead of the October World Cup Qualifiers. According to TyC Sports, players who receive a call-up from the Premier League this time will be able to return directly to England, where they will have to do only five-day isolation but can train individually.

This is a different change of tone from this month, which saw Premier League players coming from South America complying with a ten-day quarantine without leaving their room.

Tottenham will see three players depart for South America, with Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso receiving call-ups to Argentina. Meanwhile, Davinson Sánchez will suit up for Colombia.
