Report claims Tottenham have scouted 16-goal attacker

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a number of attacking players in recent months and the PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo is the latest name linked with a move to the London club.

The 23-year-old was a standout player for the Netherlands during the World Cup and he scored three goals as the Oranje reached the quarter-finals of the competition.

Gakpo managed to carry his impressive club form into the World Cup and his performances have understandably caught the attention of the Premier League club.

A report from ESPN claims that Tottenham have scouted the 23-year-old.

The 23-year-old had scored 13 goals for PSV prior to the World Cup, and he had 17 assists to his name as well.

It is evident that the attacker is at the peak of his powers right now, and he will feel that he deserves to play for a big club. A move to Spurs would allow him to showcase his qualities at the highest level and he would get to experience Champions League football with the London club as well.

Gakpo has a high ceiling and he could develop into a world-class footballer in the future. Working with a world-class manager like Antonio Conte will only accelerate his development.

It wouldn’t be surprising if PSV decided to demand a premium price for the attacker, following his exploits in the World Cup. However, Tottenham chief Daniel Levy is known to be a shrewd negotiator, and he is unlikely to pay over the odds for a transfer target.

It will be interesting to see if the two clubs can come to an agreement in the upcoming windows.
