Report claims that Kane could miss Premier League opener against Man City

Harry Kane will reportedly miss Tottenham’s opening Premier League match against Manchester City next month, amidst interest from the champions.

Kane has told Tottenham that he wants to leave the club but they remain adamant that he isn’t for sale.

City is one of the few clubs who can come close to signing him this summer financially, and they need to replace Sergio Aguero who has joined Barcelona.

Interestingly, Tottenham’s first Premier League match is against City which means Kane would face either his former club or his future employers.

However, The Telegraph reports that he would likely not play for either club in the game.

Because of his work with the England national team at Euro 2020, he has been given an extended break.

The new season starts in about three weeks and he is still to return for preseason training.

The report says by the time the campaign gets underway, he would likely still be working on his fitness.

At 27, Kane feels he has to start winning trophies and that would most likely only happen if he leaves Tottenham.

He has 221 goals in 336 games for Spurs, yet he has yet to win any major trophy with them.
