Report claims Spurs are back in the running for ‘breathtaking’ star with 18 goal contributions this season

Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly back in the running to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, a Napoli attacker who is reportedly far superior to Jack Grealish, according to Calciomercato.

After having his options reduced by injuries prior to the World Cup and with a pile of fixtures coming in the second half, Antonio Conte will be eager to strengthen his squad.

Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Heung-Min Son were all injured, giving the Italian fewer options up front. Richarlison has returned back from the World Cup with an injury and is expected to be out for a month while Son did not the start the game against Nice due to fever.

Spurs were linked with a move for Kvaratskhelia in previous transfer windows, but the 21-year-old eventually joined Napoli this summer. His agent revealed on Fabrizio Romano’s Youtube channel (via TBR) last month that Spurs missed out on the opportunity to sign him for around £20 million.

According to Calciomercato, Napoli are close to renewing Kvaratskhelia’s current contract, despite the fact that he only joined the club six months ago due to the massive interest surrounding the player. And to fend off the interest, the club are also set to give the winger a substantial pay rise.

The outlet reports that Napoli are looking to offer the player an extension until 2028 and a ‘doubled salary’ which will see his salary go from ‘1.2 million to 2.4 million euros net per season’.

Since joining Napoli, Kvaratskhelia has been in ‘breathtaking‘ form, scoring eight goals and providing ten assists.

Despite the reports it seems extremely unlikely that Spurs will be able to sign Kvaratskhelia anytime soon unless Daniel Levy is willing to give Napoli an open cheque book to tempt them into selling.
