Report: Chelsea target ‘wants to join Spurs’ before deadline day; will ‘wait until next summer’ if he has to

According to 90min, Adama Traore is interested in joining Tottenham Hotspur this summer ahead of Wolves’ deadline on Thursday – with the player’s contract expiring next summer.

Traore, 26, has returned to Wolves following a loan spell at his former club Barcelona. He failed to score a single goal in 17 appearances at the Nou Camp during the second half of last season.

He is in the final year of his contract at Molineux. He has only appeared as a substitute in two of Wolves’ four Premier League games so far, against Fulham and Tottenham. Traore did not play against Newcastle.

According to the report, Wolves are ready to ‘price Traore out of a deal’. The 26-year-old ‘wants to move to Spurs’ and is willing to wait until next summer if necessary’ to leave on a free transfer.

Spurs had been interested in the Wolves winger for some time, but he was snatched up by his former club Barcelona in January for a loan deal. That homecoming did not go as planned, and he was forgotten by the Catalan giants as they moved on to bigger targets, opting not to make his move permanent.

It was reported earlier this month that Spurs have reignited their interest in the speedster with London rivals Chelsea also interested in him. But as the deadline day looms, it looks as if Traore will have to wait out a year before Spurs finally sign him. Unless there is some major activity on deadline day.
