Report: Chelsea plans to swoop in and steal RB Leipzig’s £27M talent from Tottenham

Upgrading the left center-back role is something Tottenham Hotspur will attempt to do this summer. Playing with a backline of three, the north London club is set with Cristian Romero and Eric Dier.

The Athletic recently shared the list of targets that Spurs intend to pursue to upgrade the position currently occupied by Ben Davies. The Premier League club had to cross off Freiburg’s Nico Schlotterbeck, who’s now joining Borussia Dortmund.

Spurs might be on the verge of crossing off another player from the list. Goal reports that Chelsea has circled RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol as a replacement for the outgoing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

Despite the interest, if Tottenham has the 20-year-old as their top target, then the current situation with The Blues could help them lay the groundwork to pursue Gvardiol.

The Blues cannot adequately prepare for the summer until their new owners take over from Roman Abramovich, as discussions remain ongoing.

When it comes to a possible asking price, Transfermarkt puts his value at £27-million, but with two Premier League clubs interested, the price could increase.
