Report: Barcelona is ready to put Tottenham Hotspur transfer target

Tottenham Hotspur is keen on improving their forward group to add some goal scoring to help Harry Kane in this department, and with the transfer window nearing, there are plenty of candidates that are linked to Spurs to fill this role.

One of them is FC Barcelona’s Memphis Depay, who has seen his role reduced since the arrival of Xavi as manager. Despite the decrease in playing time, the 28-year-old has insisted on remaining with the Spanish club, where he’s under contract until 2023.

Nonetheless, Sport reports that the Spanish club could be looking to secure a sum for the Netherlands international. The media outlet adds that although Depay would like to remain at the Camp Nou, he is open to a move that makes sense on a financial and sporting side.

Depay wants to arrive in Qatar with the Netherlands national team in top shape, and at Barcelona, there’s plenty of competition which will result in erotic playing time, so if the forward has the World Cup in mind, he could leave.

According to Transfermarkt, Depay’s transfer value sits at £41-million. He has appeared in 35 fixtures, scoring 12 goals and recording two assists in his first season with the La Liga side.
