Report: Aston Villa, Tottenham keen on AS Roma star whose deal expires in June

Depth in the attacking group is one area that Tottenham Hotspur will be keen on adding, especially if they clinch UEFA Champions League football next season. Relying on Harry Kane and Son Heung-min will be too much with games during the middle of the week.

Spurs added Dejan Kulusevski this past January, but the north London side wants to continue improving the depth behind their two-star players on attack. With the summer transfer window opening in a little over a month, many names are surfacing.

La Gazzetta dello Sport’s Alfredo Pedullà reports that the latest forward linked to Tottenham is AS Roma Henrikh Mkhitaryan, a versatile player who can play out on the wing and as an attacking midfielder since these are positions Spurs would like an upgrade at this summer.

The Armenia international’s contract expires next month, and the Italian club wants to extend him, but there are a couple of clubs in Serie A linked to the 33-year-old. Joining Spurs in this pursuit is fellow Premier League club Aston Villa and Serie A sides Inter Milan and Napoli.

In 45 appearances, Mkhitaryan has scored five goals while recording nine assists. Furthermore, with Arsenal ties, it will be interesting to see if it hampers their pursuit of the veteran player.
