The midfield is a position that Tottenham Hotspur will be eyeing to improve this summer, and there are various players linked to the north London club. One player recently connected to Spurs is Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans.

Tielemans is under contract until 2023 and has yet to sign an extension with The Foxes; as a result, they’ll look to cash in this summer rather than lose him on a free transfer next year.

However, Tottenham does face plenty of competition for the 25-year-old, and The Sun (via Sky Sports) reports that Arsenal is closing in on a £40m signing of the Leicester City midfielder.

The Gunners are on the hunt for a central midfielder to provide competition for Granit Xhaka; meanwhile, Tottenham likely wants to have midfielders competing for spots in that with the addition of Rodrigo Bentancur and the pending arrival of Pape Matar Sarr.

Nonetheless, whoever comes away with the final UEFA Champions League spot could be the team that can sway Tielemans into joining them to play in Europe’s top competition.
