Report: Antonio Conte plots Tottenham exit as talks with European giant emerge

When Tottenham Hotspur decided to hire Antonio Conte, the north London club understood what comes with appointing the Italian tactician, meaning investing heavily in a squad to lift its standards.

During the January transfer window, Spurs made some additions with Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur. However, this summer, there’s no doubt Conte expects heavy investment, but a report out of France might suggest that the Spurs boss could be looking to bolt.

According to Le Parisien, Conte is the latest name connected to the pending managerial opening at Paris Saint-Germain. The French giants are expected to part ways with former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

The French media outlet reports that the 52-year-old has hinted to delegates from Qatar that he would be keen on taking over the PSG bench should they part ways with the Argentine tactician.

Furthermore, the report states that Conte believes that he can get out of his contract with Tottenham, where he has one more year after the conclusion of this season.

Despite the reported interest, there’s a hurdle, and that’s Conte would find it very difficult to work with PSG’s sporting director Leonardo. If the Ligue 1 side decides to hold onto the Brazilian executive, then it’s unlikely he heads to Paris.

Nonetheless, it is a possible concern for Spurs that if they don’t invest a large sum to makeover the squad that can challenge Liverpool and Manchester City, he could walk as Conte has done in the past.
