Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on the signing of the Sporting CP defender Pedro Porro.
The 23-year-old Spaniard has been outstanding for the Portuguese club this season and he has three goals and 11 assists to his name across all competitions.
Tottenham have been desperate for defensive reinforcements and the 23-year-old’s arrival will certainly help them at the back. Furthermore, he is very effective going forward and he could add a new dimension to the Tottenham attack as well.
Meanwhile reliable journalist Alasdair Gold has revealed that Spurs might not be done in the transfer market just yet.
Apparently, the London club wanted to sign an attacker and a full-back this month. They have already brought in Arnaut Danjuma and Pedro Porro is set to complete his move as well.
However, Gold adds that Tottenham could look to bring forward some of their summer transfer plans if the right opportunity arises. Apparently, the London club are hoping to sign another attacker, a center-back, and a midfielder.
“One thing, from what I understand Spurs aren’t necessarily going to stop with Porro. The priorities were a wing-back and an attacker and that’s Danjuma and Porro which are hopefully going to be done,” Gold said.
“If an opportunity arises for them to push any of their summer plans forward, and we know the summer plans were a center-back or a midfielder or maybe even another attacker depending on what happens with Gil, they’ll take that opportunity. It’s one to keep an eye out for in the last few days.”
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can bring in another player before the January transfer window closes.
Tottenham are currently fighting for a place in the top four and Antonio Conte will be aware of the fact that the right additions this month could boost his team’s chances of securing Champions League qualification.
Danjuma has already made an immediate impact for Tottenham and he managed to score for his new club in the FA Cup. Porro will be hoping to make an immediate impact as well when the transfer is finalized. The 23-year-old can operate as a right-sided winger as well and his versatility will be an added bonus for Tottenham.
