Reguilon’s Worst Game Since Fulham | graphic

By The Boy -

Sergio Reguilon’s performance was by his own standards, pretty dreadful. The Spaniard gave the ball away 14 times, but on 7 occasions that happened in his own half. In this respect and generally speaking, this was the 24-year-old’s worst showing since he joined Spurs. Against Fulham in the league on  Premier League, 13.01.2021, where he lost the ball 13 times.

Lightweight and ineffective, there wasn’t a single basic discipline in which Sergio excelled. Sure, we had a couple of decent smart passes or chances created, but they were so atypical of his all-around play, that it would be disingenuous to mention them in the same breath as the bad stuff which he liberally spread around St James’ Park.

He’s just back from injury and it takes time to find your best form. Same as Lo Celso and Son, the drop of in Sons early season form is alarming.

Kane was rushed back from injury too, Tanganga getting stick too but he is not a right back and is still learning the game at this level and is also back from injury.

There also seems to be an issue with the late return of Alderweireld and Aurier and failure to abide by Covid protocols.

I can’t think of one player apart from Aurier who has been on an upward curve this season, what’s Jose doing with them all week?
