“Received an offer” – O’Rourke claims Spurs have stepped up their interest in defender

A new candidate has entered the picture among the defenders who have surfaced on Tottenham’s list of transfer targets.

According to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, the president of French club Le Havre, Jean-Michel Roussier has confirmed the interest of Premier League clubs in their captain, Arouna Sangante, and Spurs are said to be one of the clubs interested in him.

He revealed the club has already turned down an offer for the highly rated defender, though he did not disclose the club in question.

Roussier confirmed a significant level of interest in the 21-year-old from various clubs while speaking to Football Insider.

He said:

“It is true we have had some interest in Sangante and mainly from English Premier League clubs.”

“I believe as many as seven English clubs have been to watch Sangante here in Le Havre and also at away games.

“We received an offer from a club, but it was not suitable for us.”

“In a perfect world if we receive a suitable offer in January that suits all parties, then hopefully we can have Sangante back on loan until June so he can finish the season with Le Havre.”

As per the report, Tottenham are keen on signing him and have stepped up their interest.

Spurs scouts have closely observed the centre-back in action over the course of the last four games.

Transfermarkt assesses the player’s market value at €10 million, a figure well within the budget of decision-makers in North London.
