Tottenham has failed in their bid to land Real Madrid youngster, Miguel Gutierrez.
The young left-back has been on the radar of Jose Mourinho since the Special One managed Manchester United.
The 19-year-old hasn’t broken into the Madrid first team, but they regard him highly at the club and Spurs wanted him to continue his development in London.
The Spain under-19 international is seen as a star of the future and Spurs were looking to make him an understudy to his fellow Spaniard, Sergio Reguilon.
But Defensa Central says Spurs have had a bid for his signature rejected by Madrid who is not looking to lose him any time soon.
The club sees him as a future star and would rather allow him to continue developing his game with their B team.
Spurs have already started making plans for the summer, but it is unlikely that Gutierrez would have been a starter when next season begins.
Apart from Reguilon, Spurs also has Ben Davies who plays as a left-back for Mourinho as well.
The competition for a place in Madrid is also tough, as Ferland Mendy and Marcelo are currently the first choices.
The teenager might have to decide if he sees a surer path to first-team action in Madrid or at Spurs.
Why would you leave your home club and country to go to another country on the promise of what exactly?
I suppose if someone else came in for Dane Scarlett or Alfie Devine we’d probably say no.
So much for our fanciful “special alliance” following our failure to land yet another RM player!! Isco and Ascensio the others??
