According to the latest report from 90min, Tottenham have ‘opened talks’ with Leicester City regarding a move for James Maddison.

The attacking midfielder has been linked with a move to Spurs since last summer, with the club reportedly showing interest but finding Leicester’s asking price too high at the time.

With the club now relegated, Levy will be able to negotiate a much better price for him.

90min previously reported that Ange Postecoglou has given the green light to the club to sign the attacking midfielder.

And according to the latest update from them, they have now opened talks with the Foxes to sign their star midfielder.

The report states that the negotiations between the two clubs have started with Leicester looking for a fee in the region of £55m.

The report also adds that Spurs are ‘ready to offer’ Maddison wages that will see him earning in the same bracket as their superstar striker Harry Kane.

They are likely to face competition from Newcastle who have also been interested in signing the midfielder since last summer having made two bids for him, offering as much as £50m. But Leicester’s strict asking price of £60m saw had them reject both bids.

According to 90min, Newcastle are still interested but might be reluctant to pay so much for him.

Maddison has established himself as one of the league’s finest midfielders, consistently delivering top-level performances for several years. He has scored 55 goals and 41 assists in 203 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Despite Leicester City’s underwhelming season, the attacking midfielder stood out again, contributing with 19 goals and assists in the league.

As negotiations progress, it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can reach an agreement with Leicester for the transfer of James Maddison.
