Tottenham’s recent 1-0 Europa League victory over AZ Alkmaar marked an important outing for Radu Dragusin.

The Romanian centre-back returned to the starting lineup midweek after being sent off early in their opening match against Qarabag.

Despite the team’s win, transfer speculation has been building around Dargusin due to his limited playing time, sparking a direct response from former Spurs scout Bryan King.

King voiced frustration over these rumours, emphasising that Dragusin and his agent were well aware of his role when he joined Tottenham in January.

As a squad player, Dragusin was brought in to provide defensive depth for the club, aligning with Spurs’ long-term strategy.

King further highlighted that Dragusin knew he wouldn’t be a regular starter, given the presence of more established defenders on the team, including a World Cup winner and another seasoned full international in Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

Dragusin’s arrival at Tottenham came with high expectations, especially after his €25 million transfer from Genoa—a record fee for a Romanian player.

Since joining Spurs, he has been integrated gradually, making his Premier League debut as a substitute in a 2-2 draw against Manchester United last season.

King’s comments underscore a clear message regarding Dragusin’s current role, calling for patience and professionalism.

As Spurs aim for success across competitions, King emphasised that the 22-year-old should focus on his responsibilities and honour the commitment he made when signing with the Lilywhites.

Bryan King not happy with Radu Dragusin and his agent

Speaking to Tottenham News, the journalist said:

“When he signed for Spurs he and his agent knew he wasn’t going to be a regular.

“He was brought in as a squad player. One of the defenders in front of him is a World Cup winner, the other is as quick a defender as you’ve seen anywhere. Both of them are full internationals.

“Therefore, Dragusin and his agent would have known he wasn’t coming to Tottenham to be a first-choice centre-back. If they didn’t know that, it was a bad move for the player. I’d imagine the money the agent got and the money the player is on is good. As a result, this angers me a little bit because they knew what the situation was when he signed for the football club.

“For now, get on with the job, remember what you signed up for. He’s a Tottenham player and ought to remember who he is representing.”

Florin Manea has angered fans with his recent comments

This comes as Dragusin’s agent, Florian Manea, continues to speak to the media about Dragusin’s future at the club.

He most recently refused to rule out a future move for his client, suggesting that it depends on how much playing time he gets this season.

This is not the first time he has stirred the pot regarding Dragusin’s future, having previously indicated interest in a future move to Bayern Munich.
