Tottenham Hotspur recently announced a season ticket price increase and that has not gone down well with former Premier League striker Gabriel Agbonlahor.
Tottenham confirmed that the ticket prices for the 2024-25 campaign will rise by 6% and Tottenham fans will certainly be disappointed with the development. Ticket prices in football are already at a premium and the price increase will only make it difficult for fans to follow their team home and away.
Apparently, Tottenham have attributed the price hike to a significant increase in match-day costs.
The supporters’ trust have also released a statement claiming that they are disappointed with the decision and now the Talksport pundit has opened up on the situation.
Their statement read: “Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust is dismayed by the Club’s plans to increase Season Tickets by six per cent.”
Agbonlahor believes that the prices at London clubs are ridiculous and it is becoming tough for people to attend matches.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor said: “What I don’t like is money is tough for people out there, I’ve got friends in London who can’t even get on the property ladder, it’s ridiculous prices in London”.
Spurs have built a world class facility and their rising matchday costs are hardly a surprise. It will be interesting to see how the club balances the situation in the coming years. Hiking ticket prices will only drive fans away from the stadium.
On the pitch, Tottenham have been quite exciting this season and they are currently pushing for Champions League qualification. It will be interesting to see if they can finish the season strongly and secure a place in the top four.
