Pundit outlines how Conte has transformed ‘petulant’ Spurs player

By Saikat -

Tottenham completed the £60 million signing of Richarlison from Everton earlier in the summer.

The 25 year old has been quite impressive for his new club so far and popular pundit Noel Whelan claims that the Brazilian has been a good acquisition for the Londoners.

Spurs paid big money for the former Everton star and he has managed to settle in quickly and make an immediate impact.

Richarlison was handed his UEFA Champions League debut during the midweek and he scored a fantastic brace against Marseille. He will be looking to build on that performance and establish himself as a regular starter for Antonio Conte’s side over the next few weeks.

Whelan believes that Conte has helped calm the player down and he has managed to cut out the petulant side of Richarlison from his game.

The 25 year old has often been criticised for being on the edge and his provocative nature made him an unpopular character with rival fans.

It seems that Richarlison has managed to control that aspect of his game and he is showing signs of maturity at Spurs.

Whelan says that the Brazilian needed a strong personality like Conte to sort out his behavioural issues.

He said to Football Insider: “At £60million, it looks like a real good signing by Tottenham. He’s a really good player.

“The only criticism was the way that he played the game at times. He’s a big strong boy and looked a bit petulant at times.

“But it looks like Conte’s getting the best out of him. He looks like he needed a strong manager to get the best out of him.”
