Pundit losing the plot thinking that Daniel Levy will spend as much as £80m on one player

Daniel Levy is one of the shrewdest businessmen in the Premier League and he has shown over time that he is not the man to spend massive amounts of money on a single player.

The Spurs supremo will look to back Jose Mourinho in this transfer market, but it will definitely not be with a ton of money.

However, Talksport pundit Simon Jordan doesn’t seem to acknowledge that Levy is not one to lay out huge amounts as he has just tipped the Lilywhites to spend a fortune on Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha.

The Ivorian winger has been a long-term target of Tottenham, but they have been unable to convince the Eagles to sell the wide man, certainly not at a reasonable price anyway.

He is set to leave them this summer after his manager Roy Hodgson admitted that he isn’t happy at Selhurst Park (SkySports) and Jordan reckons that Levy will spend the required fee to land him. He has been valued at £80m, according to Mail Sports.

“I could see him going to Tottenham,” Jordan told Talksport as quoted by HITC. “It depends how Mourinho wants to set them up next year and what he wants to do with them.

“He wants to go. I could see him going to Tottenham. He is in the price category that Daniel [Levy] might be willing to spend.”

Jordan is simply out of his mind to think that Levy would spend that sort of money on a player, a player that hasn’t had the best of seasons and for a position that Spurs already have several options in.

I understand that pundits have a job but with so much to discuss it makes no sense why they would speak utter nonsense on particular subjects. If Jordan does not know what Levy is like and that he would never spend that much money on Zaha then he should not be a pundit.

This really is lazy punditry.
