Pundit Issues Brutal Assessment Of Many Of Spurs’ First Team Squad

By The Boy -

Tottenham’s on-field issues have been well documented this season, and it would be a fair comment that fans are split between blaming the manager and blaming the players. It’s academic to a point as neither camp of supporters is happy and the pressure to change is 100% on the club who have delivered an over-budget stadium …late. The expectation was enormous. You do not build a stadium of those dimensions and carry on, business as usual, or in our case, go backward.

According to Gabby Agbonlahor, the issue is with most of Tottenham’s back-line. It’s difficult to argue with the form Aston Villa man. Toby was also divisive under Pochettino, and he’s 32. Sanchez has spent a long time in N17 and still looks like a stranger in a strange land. Dier is a Magic 8 Ball and Rodon looks like he may make the grade, but this is a big step up from Swansea City.

This is not a Champions League grade back four.

Meanwhile, in downtown AntiJosé, it’s the manager’s fault for keeping chopping and changing…

Keane was a Spurs fan as a boy in Ireland. I believe his disgust derives from his despair at the way the club has disappointed him.

Walker to Trippier to Aurier to Docherty our decline can be summarised in the quality of our right backs

Hi, Portuguese Spur here. I’ve been following Marcus since he moved to Guimarães. He was indeed one of the best players in the PT league last season. However, I fear he might be lacking mental fibre. Following transfer speculation (Porto was definitely interested, but unwilling to cough up the EUR 10 mil. Guimarães demanded for 50%. That is a lot by PT standards) in the Summer, he had a shaky start of his second season. He’s now back on track, but I can’t shake the feeling the boy’s mettle might not be up to the standards, especially given the train wreck that Tottenham is atm. Still, he is a quality player, relatively cheap and home-grown. Plus, we could really use someone for our attacking right-wing. I’d definitely go for him.

I have a problem with so called pundits offering such obvious bias in their comments that are as informative as saying the Pope is Catholic.
Keane for example may have stated his views but it comes from a man who hates the club, Agbonlehor offers nothing we didn’t already know yet they get paid for their annoying drivel .

I think that will be two players at 11M, 2 loans with options and 23 stories of we tried to sign but couldn’t agree a price

I totally agree but it is hardly insightful. Myself and many on here have been saying it for 2 seasons. Jose has to chop and change because no matter what he picks the players are not capable of doing a job.

Rodon has got promise but I can’t imagine he was one that Jose was pushing to sign so he’s has not been given the chance yet to bring in his own man at centre back. If Anderson is a Jose pick then that’s good enough for me but if he’s being foisted upon him because he’s young, cheap and available (in other words a Levy signing) then that would be a concern obviously.

Thanks H, I’m stealing the ‘Magic 8 ball’ line from you regards Dier. That’s rather good. Certainly an improvement on the comments i’m seeing in The Athletic. Your analysis that the primary market is US has been 100% confirmed by my reading a comment describing Sessegnon and Alli as ‘Hype’ young players.

Jaysus. ‘Hype’? I’ve never felt more English in my life.

One £60mil player and two £30mil players. Marcus Edwards is a player I’d be looking to buy along with yousef atal. Obviously a centre back too

Would love to know fans opinion on transfers. Let’s say we have 120M to spend in the summer (a made up figure but just accept that is what we have) would you rather we purchased;
2 players @ 60M each
3 players @ 40M each
4 players @ 30M each
6 players @ 20M each

Rodon can play. Reggie needs to fix up his defending. Docherty needs to go. (I liked his work at wolves though

Rodon gets a free pass from me as he’s not got the minutes to show what he’s got in the locker. The others need to be gone ASAP.

What we mustn’t forget that despite bringing in Doherty and Rodon we all know that they aren’t as good as the defenders who’ve left us. When Walker left we replaced him with the bloke who was rarely a first choice, injury to Walker aside. Then we expect him to be the first choice. Nothing about his game previously indicated he was capable of that role.

Put simply Levy does things on the cheap. Whilst this man is at the helm nothing will change. It’s a revolving door of the same
