Pundit hails ‘masterclass’ from Conte vs Leicester, a sign of things to come in NLD? – Opinion

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur picked up a 6-2 win over Leicester City in their last Premier League outing.

South Korean international Son Heung-Min ended his goal drought with a scintillating hat-trick against the Foxes but the 30-year-old started the game on the bench.

Popular pundit Chris Sutton has now reflected on the incident while previewing the North London derby for BBC. Sutton claims that he was unhappy with Antonio Conte’s decision to leave Son on the bench against Leicester but as the game went on, the Italian manager’s decision proved to be a masterclass.

“Spurs also have Son Heung-min up and running after his hat-trick off the bench against Leicester before the international break. Son is in my Fantasy team, so I was really angry when he was dropped – but then changed my mind when he came on. It was a masterclass from Antonio Conte to wait and bring him on,” Sutton wrote.

Son came on against a tired Leicester City side in the second half and grabbed an exceptional hat-trick which will boost his confidence remarkably.

It will be interesting see if the South Korean is dropped to the bench for the North London derby this weekend as well.

The likes of Dejan Kulusevski, Harry Kane and Richarlison could start against Arsenal once again and Son could be used as an impact player by Conte.

Any team would struggle against a player like Son late on in the game when he’s taking on tired defenders. It could prove to be a tactical masterstroke from Conte once again.

That said, Son might not be too happy with the situation if it happens. A player of his quality will want to start every game.
