Pundit glowing over latest Tottenham business calling him an “upgrade”

Pundit Danny Mills could hardly hide his delight at the news that Spurs have captured the signing of Republic of Ireland international, Matt Doherty.

The Lilywhites have been busy strengthening their team in this transfer window ahead of the new season.

Spurs have signed Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton and Joe Hart who had been released by Burnley.

Doherty became their third summer addition and he is an exciting signing.

The wing-back is one of the best in his position and he played 50 times for Wolves in all competitions last season.

He has also contributed 15 goals and 15 assists to Wolves over the past two seasons with them in the English top flight.

These numbers will delight Spurs’ fans and Mills reckons that Doherty is definitely a better player when compared to Serge Aurier and he added that it didn’t matter if he is or was an Arsenal fan as well.

Mills told Football Insider: “He is an upgrade on Serge Aurier. He has done incredibly well at Wolves over the past few seasons.

“Lots of people coming out and saying he is an Arsenal fan and so what? It makes no difference.

“I have been very impressed with him at Wolves. He has a good skill set, great ability in the final third and a very, very good work ethic. He is solid, reliable and that is what Mourinho wants from his players.”
