Tottenham travels to Bournemouth this evening looking for a win that would enhance their bid to end this season in a European place.
A place in the top four is out of the question, but the Lilywhites can still make the Europa League, which would also be considered a success given that they didn’t start this season in the best possible manner.
Their opponent in this game is one that could yet be relegated at the end of this campaign unless their season somehow turns around.
Eddie Howe’s Cherries have lost their last five matches on the bounce and eight of their last ten games in all competitions.
It has been a season of one woeful result after another for the South Coast side and soccer pundit, Mark Lawrenson has predicted yet another loss for the Cherries via his BBC column.
Both of these teams are chasing different end of season goals, but Lawrenson reckons that Tottenham won’t become the first team that Bournemouth stops from winning in six attempts.
He predicts that Mourinho’s team will end up winning by a score of 2-0
What was most notable about Lawro’s prediction was not how good Tottenham are and that their quality will overpower their opponents but more about how poor Howe’s men are playing. In better words, Bournemouth will lose the game because of how rotten they are and that is the only reason Spurs will win.
A win would lift Spurs above Arsenal on the league table and it would also see them move into what will likely be a Europa League spot.
Has Lawro got his Bournemouth v Tottenham prediction spot on or do you think he is well wrong?
This is exactly the kind of game I dread the most. Other team has a string of bad results, and for some reason they play us and they show up and play their best game of the year. Look at Sheffield. Everyone was wondering why they started so slow and were doing poorly. Cue the cure…a game versus Spurs. We are the perfect remedy for slumping teams.
On the other hand, nothing would be better that a full response from the boys. 4-0 Spurs would be my opposite, and more hopeful, prediction =D
Too true!
Mate – that style of football will be here as long as jose is. dont get too expectant.
Us scoring 2 will require us actually hitting the target. Last 4 games we totalled 10 shots on target, will need a huge improvement to score twice. Not to mention, Jose will likey ask us to defend deep if we score first.
Let’s hope we show some real attacking intent and not the slow, boring, negative football of recent games. Bournemouth have lost 5 in a row so no excuses. I’m not holding my breath though.
