Pundit gives his opinion on Dele Alli and invokes Pochettino

Talksport’s Adrian Durham believes that Jose Mourinho has broken Dele Alli’s heart and the Englishman needs to leave Tottenham as soon as possible.

The attacking midfielder has struggled to play for the club this season as he continues to be on a poor run of form.

He started the season in the club’s first league game against Everton, but he was removed at half time and that has been the case on two other occasions this season.

Durham believes that Alli is better than that and he reckons that he is a victim of collateral damage.

Spurs hired Mourinho as their manager so that he can win trophies for them, and Alli has become one of the players that will be sidelined for the manager to achieve that goal.

Durham reckons that if Manchester United eventually makes Mauricio Pochettino their new manager, Alli might end up at Old Trafford.

“Now has come the time to break the ties with Tottenham Hotspur and move on for a different challenge, wherever that may be,” began Durham.

“If there is a vacancy at Man United and Pochettino gets the job, I can see him taking Dele Alli there and revitalising him.

“Dele Alli has had his football heart broken by Jose Mourinho.

“What Jose needs to do to take the steps forward to take Tottenham where he wants to go, then there will be collateral damage along the way – and Dele Alli is part of that.

“So Dele Alli now has to sit down and look at himself and say, ‘hang on a minute, I have been, in my time, one of the Premier League’s better players. For a couple of seasons I was magnificent, and I want to get back to that. So I need to seek a move’.

“Whether that is abroad or to another Premier League club – whatever it is – clearly Mourinho doesn’t want him, so he won’t care where he goes.

“And I don’t think Mourinho will stand in his way either.

“I think they’d even accept something like £30/£25m for him.”
