Pundit compares Tottenham star to England record breaking legend

By Bruce Grove -

Rio Ferdinand has been impressed by the performance of Harry Kane, and the former Manchester United defender has compared him with his former teammate and England record goalscorer, Wayne Rooney.

Kane has adapted his game to start dropping deep to help his team build attacks and set players up for goals in recent months.

The England captain is now the assist leader in the Premier League and he has also continued to score goals regularly for the club.

While Michael Owen said on TalkSPORT that Kane might be unhappy with his new role at the club, Brendan Rodgers claims that his new role makes him even more dangerous to cope with.

Ferdinand has now joined Rodgers to say that when you have a player who drops deep to get chances or create some for his teammates on your side, then he is likely to make things happen for you during the match.

He said on BT Sport via The Sun: “We spoke about it off-air, he reminds me, seeing him live like this, of Wayne Rooney.

“Rooney used to love dropping into pockets, into the number 10 role, he could play high up, he could do everything.

“He’s all about creating opportunities, to either shoot, or create something for someone else. Here, coming from deep, awareness of other players.

“He creates havoc, and when you get players like this on the ball, things will some point happen in those 90 minutes.”

Kane is pure class…the only worry is if he has an off day usually the team does.

Halfway through the season, four points off top. In all the cups still.. For any superstitious fan this is 2021.. Ending in a 1.. Superstition is nonsense, but I can still smell a cup or 2. A treble would be marvellous…. Any trophy to celebrate would be great for everyone spurs whether fan player or staff.. Not net wages, top four, and this mythical entertaining football that is the apparent spurs way.. Trophies and winning is what it’s all about.
