Pundit claims Tottenham should have signed 23-yr-old instead of his teammate in summer

By Saikat -

Former Tottenham player and popular pundit Jamie O’Hara has questioned the club’s decision to sign Yves Bissouma at the start of the season.

The 26-year-old defensive midfielder joined Tottenham from Brighton during the summer transfer window, but he has not been able to hold down a regular starting berth at the London club.

Bissouma has struggled to hit top form at this new club, and it will be interesting to see if the Mali international can get his career back on track during the second half of the campaign.

O’Hara believes that Spurs should have moved for his Brighton teammate Alexis Mac Allister instead.

He said to Talksport: “I mean, he has been unbelievable. What a tournament he has had! I couldn’t believe how fantastic he was. I thought he was exceptional. I can’t believe he is at Brighton.”

On the idea of Spurs signing Mac Allister, O’Hara added: “I think big clubs are going to come in looking for him. We signed Bissouma. I mean, why did we sign him when we could have got Mac Allister?”

“If you are Newcastle, Man United, Liverpool, even Man City. I would be looking at Mac Allister and going, ‘I will tell you what. That is some player we could have in our side.’”

The 23-year-old has been exceptional for club and country this season. Mac Allister was a key player for Argentina during the World Cup and he helped the South American giants win the tournament.

Tottenham could certainly use a dynamic central midfielder in their ranks and the 23-year-old Brighton midfielder could prove to be a superb acquisition.

He has a different skill set compared to the likes of Pierre-Emil Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur.

The player has been linked with a number of Premier League sides in recent weeks, and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham make their move to sign him at the end of the season.

Mac Allister has shown that he deserves to play at a higher level, and a move to Tottenham could be an appealing opportunity for the talented midfielder.
