‘PSG remains attentive’ Levy must be keeping everything crossed – opinion

By Eddie Razo -

Although Tottenham Hotspur is earning praise for the summer transfer window they’re having thus far, they’ll still need to begin offloading players with no future. Spurs have already made a list of players who won’t be travelling to begin preparations for the upcoming season.

Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele, Sergio Reguilon, and Harry Winks are players that will continue their pre-season preparations at Hotspur Way. Of the four, the France international might be the most challenging to offload.

Furthermore, French publication MediaFoot reports that Ndombele looks set to stay at Tottenham for the upcoming season, despite a recent report of the midfielder linked to Paris Saint-Germain.

Ndombele didn’t impress much in his loan stint with Olympique Lyonnais, so not many clubs are knocking at the door to sign him to a permanent deal this summer.

The France international is under contract until 2025, so Spurs might have to settle on another loan deal or cut their losses and take a loss on their initial investment.

If PSG were to step forward, the financial relief to the Tottenham chairman would be considerable…

We beat Liverpool 4-1 at Wembley under Pochettino a year before the CL final. Pochettino got no signings, Klopp got the worlds most expensive goalkeeper and central defender, as well as others.

Klopp lost the CL final too the year before they beat us, he was backed that year, and Pochettino didn’t get a single transfer in. Are you suggesting this had nothing to do with the outcome?

6 years before the year of no signings? I think you’ll find it was less than that. The team needed refreshing, Levy let it go to seed, Jose couldn’t sort it out and he wasn’t backed either. Levy’s only backing Conte because the toad has no choice at the moment. It’s a short term fix…

He won trophies at PSG, Pep won trophies at Barca, Bayern and City because they were the most financially powerful teams in their respective leagues. So before you say that it doesn’t count, perhaps you’d better throw the ‘loser’ tag around Pep’s neck too?

It’s nothing to do with anyone’s opinion, these managers have won things at the best resourced clubs. They get the jobs because they’re seen as good coaches, it’s a chicken and egg thing. Poch has now won trophies and a league title where he was expected to, just like Pep has. That must be hard to process for the ‘Botchy’ haters out there…

Ok, he didn’t win a trophy and under ENIC only Ramos has, remember? So why don’t you slag off the other 12+ Spurs coaches who also won no trophies in the last 23 years? None of those have his league record to show either. So what’s it all about? All very strange…

Of course, this is the way it works. Were Rodon, Bale, Bergwjin ‘Jose signings’ either? I’m not sure what this obsession over Pochettino is about but I think it’s mainly because he wants to argue over it…

You haven’t explained the LoCelso situation, which was the whole point of my comment. Pochettino had left the club several months before LoCelso was made permanent, beforehand he was on loan.

Saying he was a Pochettino signing when Pochettino had left the club and Jose was manager doesn’t even make any sense. He just wasn’t a Pochettino signing, he wasn’t at the club, you’re denying this happened? Bizarre…

Also the best zero net spend squad built was Liverpool and Klopp.. They have a sustainable model exactly the same as ours. They drive profits to then invest in the team. We do the same.
The difference was the managing and scouting.
We had a better team than the scouse ffs. 2 years it took them.

His frustration was obvious, and understandable… He just lost his third final.

This doesn’t escape the fact he’s a serial loser.
A patsy.
Doesn’t learn from his mistakes. And doesn’t know how to build a winning team..

Even with Neymar, Mbappe and Messi up top he failed..

Now we have a proper manager who has form for winning.
And you still bang on about your love crush loser.

Botch will end up at Everton, Villa or the likes of Southampton again.. Sub par manager.

How about the previous 6 years to that?

He did then..He inherited most of his best players… He had the best defence in the league, Lloris Rose, Toby, Verts, Walker.. The Moose.. Prime Tintin, the Golden boot in Kane.
Our team was better than Leicesters and he botched it.
History doesn’t lie.

Of course Lo Celso was a Botch signing. No matter how much you deny your hero’s mistakes..
Including his loan and option to buy he cost north of 50 million..
Levy didn’t scout and want to sign these players they cost big money. Record signings. The most expensive Spurs players ever.
We were also in for a cheaper option of Bissouma at the time.. Levy would have gone for him going on your logic.
You clearly don’t understand how clubs are run.
Of course Botcho and Hitchen worked together on scouting and targeting these guys. Ndom, Lo Celso, Foyth, Gazzanigga. Sessy.
Of course he wanted them.
If Levy was ever scouting and choosing to buy the players then we would have been relegated years ago. He knows nothing about the footballing side.

We are not like Newcastle and Mike Ashley were..

Indeed, the attitude stinks.. Adebayor at least gave us one or two decent seasons. And was in the twilight of his career…….. Ndom is supposed to be in his prime. Ade in his prime was actually quite good for Arsenal, City and Madrid.

He wanted his job description changed, his frustration was obvious. No signings for over a year and shown the door shortly after signing three development players for him to develop!

What an excellent plan, or a rudderless ship captained by an accountant, drunk on the club’s Deloitte league position?

Really? I thought you said Poch had close to the best group of players in the league, but still couldn’t win a trophy? The best zero net-spend team ever assembled, I take it…

Nothing to do with Poch. Stated many times he was a coach. Just because he was paid to sell the club to N’Belly doesn’t mean it was his choice.

But, but, it was Poch’s fault according to SKCW. Read earlier that someone thinks Uncle Joe might be looking to sell. One can only pray for that. Cancers in the club.

Levy was happy to do the deal because Hitchen probably told him he’s talented enough to to be worth over three times as much in four years time. Then thought Pochettino’s development coaching would smooth over any attitude issues (bit like Dele) and decided to possibly not even disclose it to him? I’m trying to work out what they were thinking, then sacking a coach known for developing young players too? F*cking bonkers, Levy and Hitchen were Tweedledum and Tweedledee, total clowns. One down, one to go!

Closer to £100m if his reported wages of 180k/week are thrown in. What a disastrous piece of business.

Terrible scouting and due diligence, it was the club’s decision to sink almost 60m in to the deal, nobody else’s…

East Stand

So explain LoCelso then. Same window came in on loan as one of three signings, he’s even Argentinian. Yet, his loan was made permanent by the club about four months after Pochettino left the club under Jose. What does that explain about the club and what transfers happen or don’t? It tells you everything, these players are not ‘targets’ of any manager. Not Jose, not Pochettino. In the same way, Jose was happy to go along with the wishes and the decisions of the club. What’s different about the two cases? Nothing, yet making out they are helps you make a case for something based on very little other than some theory you’ve got.

There nothing to suggest that Pochettino wasn’t happy for him to come in, but any manager is only working on what the scouts have found out about the player. If Hitchen tels Levy or the manager that there’s grave concerns about his attitude, you’re saying that Levy commits 50 odd million to it? Pochettino ‘signed’ nobody and neither did Jose. It’s just not going to fly, no matter how much you keep going on about it…

There is something ‘Emmanuel Adebayor’ about his attitude. Both greatly skilled players… who decided at one point they really couldn’t give a f*ck about trying and to just take the money.

All of that is complete nonsense… It was widely reported at the time (you can see with a swift google search) that Ndom was Botches number 1 target.. The only person to say ‘big clubs are in for him’ was Lyons president.. What big clubs? You can’t name any because no big clubs were named, none were in for him.
You don’t spend record signings if the manager doesn’t want them. Spurs most expensive player ever! Plus more like Lo Celso and Sessy.. This was your unblemished hero finally being backed after the CL run and the stadium was finished.. We went backwards rapidly.. The manager always works together with sporting directors. It’s a team effort and there is joint responsibility. If you played or were involved at any level then you would know how clubs are run.

Botch and Hitchen aren’t very good. Hence their consistent losing track records.

Conte and Paratici are both top draw. Hence their proven winning track records.

It’s hilarious you always refuse Botch responsibility for his multitude of mistakes.. He was good at coaching young players. He inherited decent players when he arrived.
But when he was needed to buy players and build a winning squad he has never achieved this anywhere. He was clueless and never learned from his mistakes..

Conte has built a better team in 6 months than Botch did in 6 years.
Because ConteDust is real magic.

The coach was sent out to seal the transfer as he had interest from other clubs, because like it or not, he has buckets of talent. Convince the target that Hitchen had said was a sure bet? Possibly, that’s just the coach doing their job.

However, the due diligence and research into his history, personality, fitness levels have nothing to do with the first team coach. As if they have time to do all that when preparing a top flight team for matches, which is the reason why you actually employ coaches in the first place.

This is how a football club (should) work and be run.

Conte probably took one look at Tanguy and told him to spend the next 2 weeks losing 15 pounds and get in shape at the lodge if he has any hope of ever playing. Fat chance of that.

I can see some outfit like Newcastle taking a punt if we split his wages.

As Coys1882 mentioned, his antics, particularly with regard to training, were well known in the French media and he had always had a weight problem. It’s hard to see how the club can extricate itself from this problem without taking a massive hit. Amazing to think that Spurs didn’t notice that there weren’t any top sides in Europe interested in him. They do their research when paying top dollar or any dollar for a player. China might have been a country where we might have unloaded him but that ship has sailed. What about one of the clubs in Saudi or Qatar who have the money and where it’s not too competitive?

It was all over the internet mate. Ex coaches questioning his mentality. Plus his consistency. He was let go from one or two clubs for being too fat and not training properly.. Hitchen and Botch didn’t do their homework because never in a million years is he a 55 million player worth 200k a week..
Botch personally flew out to meet and convince him to sign for us.

Halfway through the transfer window and Ndombelly is saying he can be happy at Tottenham!
The man is on a different planet.

50 odd million to buy.. His wages are just shy of one million a month.
That’s another 36 million he’s cost in the last 3 years.
With another 2 years left on his contract, he is clearly happy to waste his talent and time rotting on the bench or playing for the reserves.

It will be a miracle if we sell him before his contracts finished..

If we get to the end of the Window with no interest I reckon we have 2 choices left open 1 of which is very serious:-

  1. To negotiate to cut his contract by mutual agreement and pay him off (not £200k pw x 3 years obvs.)
  2. To put out a tweet from T Ndom. saying he thinks Putin is a mouse who couldnt even take over a country defending itself with popguns and an army of 353 people.

He did well in the previous season’s Champions League and looked a promising player.

But his many problems physical and mentality related were well known to his coaches at all his clubs. We took a chance on being able to sort him out and it didn’t end well or else we didn’t dig deep enough.

Someone will take Ndomby on a loan, possibly Roma. Mourinho did at least manage to get some level of performance out of the lazy SOB! He won’t be staying at the club, that much is guaranteed, but no-one is likely to stump up the money for a permanent transfer, so a loan with an option to buy is the best we can hope for. Lo Celso, Winks and Reg should all find new homes without too much difficulty.

I is very strange that at the time of buying Ndombele , that literally nothing was known about his lethargic style of play , and the “flatter to deceive ” flashes of magic he honestly did show on occasion . He has been found out here , looks like the French are aware now , but how did this get past the scouts that must have encouraged the purchase .
Makes you think doesn’t it , this transfer at that amount of money leaves a bad taste and boy are we paying the price now ……………..
