Promising news for Tottenham as key player makes strides towards injury return

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven’s recent hamstring injury, sustained during the match against Chelsea, forced him off the pitch before halftime.

The severity of the injury has led to an expected period of absence until at least January, delivering a significant setback to manager Ange Postecoglou, who already faces a shortage of defensive options.

At the moment, the team’s limited resources see Eric Dier as the sole available backup center-back, while Ben Davies has filled in as a makeshift center-back during Cristian Romero’s absence.

A silver lining amid the injury woes is that van de Ven’s injury does not need a a surgery.

Spurs have now received a boost as the defender has started his rehabilitation and is on the road to recovery.

Tottenham shared a video on their social media showing van de Ven engaged in rehabilitation exercises in the gym alongside fellow teammates.

Micky van de Ven made an instant impact since joining in the summer, forming a formidable partnership with Cristian Romero at the back.

Such was his impact that Gallas went on to call him the best signing of the season.

His injury is a massive blow for Spurs and how they cope in his absence between now and January will be interesting to see.
