Premier League rivals eyeing January move for 22-year-old Tottenham player

West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing the Tottenham defender Djed Spence this month.

The London club signed the 22-year-old defender from Middlesbrough at the start of the season and he was expected to nail down the starting right-back position this season.

However, things have not gone according to plan for the young defender and he has struggled to win over the trust of manager Antonio Conte. Spence is yet to start a single game for Tottenham in all competitions and the player will be looking to secure regular first-team action.

A move In January could be ideal for the player’s development and the Hammers are looking to take advantage of his situation and sign him this month.

According to Football London, Bayer Leverkusen, Southampton, and Crystal Palace are keen on signing the player as well.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are prepared to let the player leave this month.

Antonio Conte’s squad is already lacking in depth in the full-back position and he will not want to weaken his side further.

The Londoners have been linked with a move for the Sporting Lisbon defender Pedro Porro and it is fair to assume that Spence will only be allowed to leave if they can sign the Spaniard from the Portuguese club this month.

There is no doubt that the 22-year-old defender has the potential to develop into a key player for Tottenham but he needs to improve further and that can only happen with regular game time.
