Tottenham Hotspur have encountered a setback, as one of their transfer targets is now poised to join another English club.
According to The Sun, Brighton have successfully negotiated a deal with Nordsjaelland for the signing of talented teenager Ibrahim Osman, with the transfer fee estimated to be around £19.5 million.
Journalist Ben Jacobs reported that Spurs were contemplating a move for him in the upcoming summer transfer window, but the club did not make any concrete efforts to sign him.
Several other clubs, including West Ham United, also expressed interest in signing the Ghanaian forward. Despite Osman’s desire to join, Nordsjaelland rejected offers from various clubs, including a £16 million bid from West Ham.
Other potential suitors, including Monaco, Wolfsburg, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and Bologna, were also said to be exploring the option of a summer move for the 19-year-old.
As per the report, Osman is now set to agree a deal with the Seagulls. It is expected that the Ghanaian forward will join the Seagulls this summer, pending the successful completion of his medical examination.
The versatile wide-man, who predominantly operates as a left-winger, can play as a right-winger as well.
This season, he has been a regular starter for Nordsjaelland, making 16 league appearances and starting in 14 matches, while contributing with 1 goal and 4 assists. Across all competitions, Osman has made 29 appearances, scoring 4 goals and providing 5 assists.
This development marks another instance where Spurs have missed out on a reported transfer target to Brighton, following reports of the Seagulls beating them to the signing of Barcelona’s Ansu Fati during the summer transfer window.
