Premier League Already Set A Precedent With Foxes|Arsenal Postponement Looks Increasingly Likely

While many fans are agitating each other online, I’ve only noticed one broadcaster SKY SPORTS to have reminded fans which is sure marks a precedent this season, in respect of postponing games. Arsenal will have undoubtedly been aware of this, and so the chances of the North London Derby going ahead look bleak.

So my piece yesterday outlining all self-inflicted in-nature absences at Arsenal is somewhat redundant, given that the sport’s chiefs have already a precedent – which includes non-Covid reasons for teams being depleted.

I take a view that A, in the first instance, the reporting of this situation has been generally poor, bar Sky and anyone else who bothered to do some homework. And B, the Premier League have created a rod for their own back moving forward.

Premier League clubs could well seek to exploit this self-made loophole, which is bound to infuriate broadcasters, subscribers, and fans generally.

Will the League also now postpone games when internationals clash with the domestic schedule?

A can of worms.
